Two arrests made in connection with a series of thefts from motor vehicles. Please remember to Hide It - Take It - Lock It

The Beverly Hills Police Department has made two arrests in connection with a series of thefts from motor vehicles.

On August 3, 2017, at approximately 5:45 a.m. Beverly Hills Police received a report of two suspicious subjects who were reportedly looking into and attempting to open vehicles in a residential neighborhood. Beverly Hills Patrol officers quickly arrived on scene and made contact with two subjects whom matched the description that the caller had provided. Officers conducted an investigation and determined that both subjects were in possession of several items of stolen property related to at least three separate thefts from vehicles in the area.

Zachary Christian, 23, of Chatsworth, and Kevin Dessaint, 31, of Los Angeles, were subsequently arrested.

Beverly Hills Detectives completed additional follow-up investigation and presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The following five charges were filed against both defendants: Receiving Stolen Property (§469 Penal Code – a felony); Burglary to Motor Vehicle (§459 Penal Code – a felony); two counts of Vehicle Tampering (§10852 Vehicle Code – a misdemeanor); and Possession of Burglary Tools (§466 Penal Code – a misdemeanor). Christian was additionally charged with Resisting, Delaying or Obstructing a Peace Officer (§148(a)(1) Penal Code – a misdemeanor) and Possession of a Controlled Substance (§11350 Health and Safety Code – a misdemeanor). Dessaint was additionally charged with Possession of a Smoking Device (§11364 Health and Safety Code – a misdemeanor). At the time of the arrests, Christian was on active Probation for Conspiracy and Dessaint on Parole for a Battery offense.
