INCIDENT: Resisting Executive Officer

LOCATION: 17100 block of D. Street

SUSPECT: Marcus Joseph Dewitt, 28-year old Victorville transient


SUMMARY:

On August 14, 2017, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to an attempted break-in at a business in the 17100 block of D. Street.

Marcus Dewitt tried to break into a business but left the location on foot after the business owner confronted him. Deputies arrived and found the suspect walking near the business and attempted to detain him. The suspect refused to follow the commands of the deputy and attempted to hit him. Due to the suspect’s aggressive behavior, the deputy deployed his taser and was able to take him into custody.

Dewitt was found to be on probation for a similar charge in Riverside County. He also had been arrested and cited for a misdemeanor, obstructing an officer and trespassing in Phelan, in the early morning hours of August 14, 2017. He was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for resisting an executive officer. He is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on August 17, 2017.
