Christopher Barrios arrested for resisting/obstructing an executive order and probation violations

DATE/TIME: August 11, 2017 / 8:34 a.m.

INCIDENT: Resisting/Obstructing an Executive Officer, Probation Violation

LOCATION: 15300 block of Center Street

SUSPECT: Christopher Barrios, 35-year old Victorville transient

VICTIM(S): San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy

SUMMARY: On August 11, 2017, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to a residence in the 15300 block of Center Street, for a request to keep the peace.

Deputy D. Carpenter responded to the location and while talking to the involved parties the suspect, Christopher Barrios, became angry and argumentative with his wife. Due to the suspect’s erratic behavior, Deputy Carpenter attempted to detain him, for the safety of all parties. To avoid being detained, the suspect fled the location and a foot pursuit ensued.

Additional deputies responded to assist in the apprehension of the suspect. Deputy A. Pennington located the suspect hiding under a wooden container. After refusing to comply with multiple commands to come out from under the container, pepper spray was deployed in an attempt to gain compliance. The pepper spray was ineffective and deputies removed one side of the container to bring the suspect out. The suspect attempted to punch and kick the deputies before being taken into custody by Deputy Carpenter.

The suspect received treatment at the scene for minor injuries sustained during the incident. One of the deputies sustained minor injuries to his hand, which did not require medical treatment.

The suspect was found to be on felony probation for a previous conviction of resisting/obstructing an executive officer. He was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for resisting/obstructing an executive officer and for violating probation.
