Help Wanted: Janesville Police Department Needs Crossing Guards
Are you looking for a great part time job where you can interact with children before and after school? The Janesville Police Department is in need of crossing guards. We currently have (1) open position for the intersection of N. Crosby and Mineral Point and (1) position to fill in as a substitute at various locations as needed.
REGULAR WORKING HOURS:
7:45 AM - 8:20 AM
3:00 PM - 3:30 PM
PAY:
$9.00 per session
DUTIES:
1. Directs and controls children at designated crossings, crossing in groups, and utilizing traffic signals and gaps in traffic where no signal exists.
2. Prevents children from committing unsafe and unlawful acts, ensuring a pattern of safe behavior of children when crossing streets.
3. Informs motorists, through prescribed signals, that children are using the crosswalk and have the right to proceed; Report motorists who violate guard's directions within 24 hrs.
4. Responds to and interacts with the general public, school children, employees, and/or others within and outside of the organization in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.
5. Performs related tasks or other duties as assigned or required.
