Sonoma County Sheriff arrested a Sonoma man for early morning commercial burglary.

Deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 21-year-old Sonoma man for an early morning commercial burglary. At about 2:54 AM on Friday August 11, 2017 Sheriff’s dispatch received a call from the manager of Bonneau’s 76 Gas Station on the corner of Arnold and Grove Street in Boyes Hot Springs. He stated there was a glass break alarm at his store and, on video surveillance from his home, he saw a suspect taking a cash register out of his business. He described the man as a black male in his 30’s, 6 feet tall weighing about 180 pounds.

As deputies responded, the manager told dispatch the suspect returned and reentered the store. As the deputies arrived, they saw a black man wearing dark clothing behind the counter inside the store. When the man saw deputies, he fled out a broken window on the north side of the building and ran about 20-30 feet. As the deputies caught up to him, the suspect, identified as Maleek Sanchez, gave up by complying with deputies’ commands. The deputies took him into custody without incident.

The deputies noticed Sanchez was bleeding from small lacerations on his hand and chin. Deputies followed the trails of blood drops which led them to the cash register propped against a fence near the gas station along with Sanchez’ bike. Blood was also smeared on the cash register.

The manager arrived at the gas station and showed the video to the deputies. The video showed Sanchez throwing a large cinder block through the store window. Sanchez entered, stole the cash register and left for a short period of time. He then returned, entered the store and was attempting to steal the second cash register when he was confronted by the deputies.

Sanchez was booked for felony burglary and has since been released after posting a $10,000 bail bond.
