INCIDENT:    Homicide Investigation
 
LOCATION:   8700 block of Olivera Street, Phelan
 
SUSPECT:    Ashley Beauchamp, 32 years old, resident of Phelan
 
VICTIM:          Laura Morris, 48 years old, San Bernardino County resident
 
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 4:47 p.m. deputies responded to the Olivera St. location after receiving several 911 calls reporting a shooting.  Deputies arrived and found an adult female, later identified as Laura Morris, suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies began CPR and medical aid transported Morris to Victor Valley Global Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.
 
Sheriff’s Homicide Detail responded to conduct the investigation. Investigators determined that there was a dispute between Ashley Beauchamp and Laura Morris, which ended with Beauchamp shooting Morris.  Minutes later, Beauchamp fled from the scene.
 
Victor Valley Deputy Moyer and K9 Ellie responded and tracked Ashley Beauchamp to a residence several blocks from the crime scene.  Beauchamp was detained and returned to the scene. Following an interview, Ashley Beauchamp was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for Murder.
