Homicide detectives are investigating the murder of 12-year-old Makiya Walls

LOCATION: 17000 block of Monaco Drive, Victorville
VICTIM: Makiya Walls, age 12, resident of Victorville
SUSPECT: Unknown
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at approximately 8:23 pm, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to the report of multiple shots fired in the 17000 block of Monaco Drive. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, Makiya Walls, suffering from gunshot wounds, Medical personnel arrived on scene and the victim was rushed to a local area hospital, but despite life-saving measures, she was pronounced deceased at 9:57 pm.
Witnesses in the area advised deputies they observed a black male adult walking up to the residence armed with a shotgun, firing several rounds into the residence. Witness also described a white, possible 4 door sedan unknown make or model, speeding from the area immediately after the shots were fired.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division - Homicide Detail responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation.
