INCIDENT: Murder Investigation

LOCATION: 16900 block of Jasmine Street, Victorville

VICTIM: Rodney Mosby, age 30 a resident of Apple Valley

SUSPECT: Jose Antonio Cornejo, age 24 a resident of Adelanto

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at approximately 1:38 pm, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to the report of multiple shots fired in the 16900 block of Jasmine Street. While en route to the shooting location Sheriff’s dispatch received a 911 call that an injured male was at the Bingo Hall in the 12200 block of Hesperia Road. Rodney Mosby was located at the location suffering from a gun shot wound. Medical personnel arrived on scene and Mosby was rushed to a local area hospital, but despite life-saving measures, Mosby was pronounced deceased at 4:21 p.m.

Witnesses in the area described seeing a silver SUV speeding away from the area immediately after the shots were fired. Deputies located the vehicle at Nisqually and Delgado, conducted a felony car stop, and the suspect, later identified as Jose Antonio Cornejo, was detained.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division - Homicide Detail was summoned and responded to assume the investigation. Jose Cornejo was interviewed by Homicide detectives and subsequently arrested. He was transported and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Murder where he is being held without bail.
