Hazardous Weather Discussion
A low pressure system will bring severe weather to our area today. Heaviest rainfall is anticipated this afternoon and evening. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for most of New Jersey from noon through tonight. Rainfall amounts of 1” to 2” are forecast with higher amounts possible from locally heavy downpours. A Small Craft Advisory is effective from 2 PM today to 6 AM Tuesday.
Impacts to New Jersey
Heavy rainfall may result in fast-rising water in creeks and streams. Flooding and ponding may occur on roads and in low-lying areas, urban areas and places subject to frequent flooding. Localized road closures may occur. Visibility on roads may be hampered during heavy downpours. Some thunderstorms this afternoon and evening may produce damaging wind gusts, especially in South Jersey.
