SUMMARY:
On August 4, 2017 at approximately 5:32 p.m., Colorado River Boating Deputies responded to two boating accidents involving a recreational pontoon boat and a "Tarzan" play center pontoon boat on Lake Havasu near Grass Island. The owners/operators of both watercraft, Cory Flaminio and Thong Lo, owners of Tarzan Havasu, were traveling south from Thomson Bay to Grass Island when both of their vessels became caught in a micro burst storm that created 60-80 mph winds, a torrential downpour of rain and swells of 6-8 feet. Both vessels were overturned by the storm. One of the operators sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment on scene.
