INCIDENT: Attempted Grand Theft Auto, Attempted Burglary, Violation of Probation

LOCATION: 14600 block of Valley Center Drive

SUSPECT: Dontra Anthony Morris, 28-year old Victorville transient

VICTIM: Valley-Hi Toyota

SUMMARY:
On August 4, 2017, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to a call of an attempted grand theft auto and burglary, at Valley-Hi Toyota.

An employee of the dealership reported having found a man attempting to get into vehicles in the service area, at the business. The man was told to leave but a short time later was located inside the parts department, attempting to steal merchandise. He was escorted off the property by employees just prior to deputies arriving.

With assistance from California Highway Patrol’s Airship H80, Sheriff’s Service Specialists G. Bracamontes and C. Rodriguez located the suspect in a shopping center on 7th Street, near La Paz Drive. The suspect, identified as Dontra Anthony Morris, was found attempting to enter a vehicle parked at the shopping center. Deputy V. Ruiz took Morris into custody without incident.

During the investigation, Morris was found to currently be on probation for attempted grand theft auto. On May 27, 2017, Morris was arrested and placed on probation for attempting to steal a vehicle from the garage of a home in Victorville.

Morris was booked at High Desert Detention Center for attempted grand theft auto, attempted burglary, and felony violation of probation.
