Police Blotter July 14th through July 20th

July 14th

Armed Robbery – BART Path at Blake St:
At approximately 0548 hours, the victim was riding his bicycle southbound on the BART path at Blake St. when he was knocked off his bicycle by two suspects. The suspects began punching and kicking the victim while he was on the ground. One suspect pointed a black handgun to the victim’s head, while the second suspect took the victims backpack. The suspects fled southbound on the BART path towards Blake St. A witness saw both suspects get into a blue sedan parked on Blake St. at Lexington Ave. The vehicle fled eastbound on Blake St. and southbound on Elm St. The victim suffered minor cuts and abrasions to his face.

Both suspects were described as black male adults, 18-28 years old, 5’8” – 5’10”, 150lbs., wearing dark hooded sweatshirts.

Arrest for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Violation of Probation – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 1402 hours, an El Cerrito police officer contacted a 55-year-old male from Sacramento loitering near the business. The male was on probation for possession of controlled substances. During a search of the male, the officer located four small glass pipes used to smoke methamphetamines. The male was arrested, booked at ECPD and released on a citation.

Residential Burglary - 6500 block of Central Ave:
At 2125 hours officers responded to a report of 3 juveniles who entered the victim’s garage and fled after the victim interrupted them. All three juveniles were 13-18 years old. The juveniles were described as 1 male wearing a gray hoody and dark jeans. The victim described the other two as being a female and male.

Driving under the Influence – Carlson Blvd and El Dorado Street:
At 2143 hours an officer arrested a Hispanic male for driving under the influence. The male was released on a citation at ECPD.

Stolen Vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, restraining order violation, possession of stolen property, and warrant – 11687 San Pablo Ave:
An officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check a found the driver a 40-year-old female had an outstanding felony warrant. The vehicle she was driving was recently recovered as a stolen vehicle. A review of the stolen vehicle recovery showed the female was listed as the suspect for the original case. The victim was contacted and stated the vehicle was again missing and that she wanted to file another stolen vehicle report. The victim also had an active restraining order against the female which states the she must stay away from the vehicle and victim. Methamphetamine and a glass methamphetamine pipe were located in the vehicle as well.

July 15th

Arrest for being Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance and Violation of Probation – Wall Ave at San Pablo Ave:
At 1525 hours, officers responded to a report of male, with no shirt and pants halfway down, yelling at himself in front of a business. An El Cerrito police officer located a 50-year-old male from San Pablo sitting on the sidewalk. The male was found to be on felony probation for resisting arrest, battery, and possession of controlled substances. The male exhibited signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The male was arrested, booked at ECPD and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen vehicle – 500 block of Colusa Ave:
At 1913 hours, the victim reported their Honda was stolen from the driveway on 07-15-17.

Recovered stolen vehicle – 500 block of Colusa Ave:
At 1913 hours, a community service officer located a 1989 Toyota Camry that was an unreported stolen vehicle from the 7400 block of Park Vista Ave.

Warrant – San Pablo Ave / Eastshore Blvd:
At 0051 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and contacted a 27-year-old male. He had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Alameda County. He was cite released in the field.

Warrant and possession of methamphetamine – Central Ave / Pierce Street:
At 0326 hours, an officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check and arrested a 37-year-old male for an outstanding felony warrant out of Alameda County. The male was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Resisting Arrest, False Identification, possession of methamphetamines, and under the influence of a controlled substance – Central Ave / Pierce Street:
While arresting a male for a felony warrant officers heard a female screaming nearby but could not locate her. A citizen told officers the female was located in the green clothes donation box. Officers assisted a 34-year-old female exit the box. Once exiting the donation bin the female gave officers a false name. The female also exhibited the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. While the female was being placed under arrest she pulled away from officers. She was later found to be in possession of methamphetamine and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

July 16th

Arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia – BART path at Potrero Ave:
At approximately 1241 hours, an El Cerrito police officer contacted a 57-year-old male drinking alcohol at the dog park. During a search of the male, the officer located methamphetamines and a meth pipe on his person. The male was arrested and released on a citation at the scene.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Wall Avenue:
At 2053 hours an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 51-year-old male for an outstanding felony warrant out of Solano County. The male was transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – 11965 San Pablo Ave:
At 0042 hours an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 34-year-old female for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Solano County. The female was released on a citation.

July 17th

Warrant Arrest – (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 0744 hours, an El Cerrito police officer contacted a 27-yea-old transgender individual from San Francisco and found that they had a $20K warrant out of Sacramento for resisting arrest. The person was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – (Jamba Juice) 5030 El Cerrito Plaza:
At approximately 1217 hours, an El Cerrito police officer contacted a 47-year-old male from Richmond and found that he had a $10K warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. The male was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito police department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 1657 hours, El Cerrito police officers were dispatched to Walgreens for an unwanted known theft suspect. An El Cerrito police officer contacted a 32-year-old female transient near the IHOP restaurant. The female had a $5K warrant for possession of controlled substances from Vallejo PD. The female was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Residential Burglary - 6000 Block Jordan Ave:
At 1802 hours an officer was sent to a residence in regards to a burglary that had occurred there. It was determined the burglary occurred on 07/17/17 between 0705 hrs. and 1800 hrs. Entry was forced into the residence. The suspect was a Hispanic male adult, 30’s, tall, heavy set wearing a gray sweater, dark shorts and white shoes and driving a white van.

Shoplifting - (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1926 hours officers were sent to Walgreens on a report of a theft that had just occurred. Officers located a 45-year-old San Francisco man a short distance away. The man was positively identified as responsible for the theft. A citizen arrest was obtained and the man was booked into County Jail.

Shoplifting - (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1804 hours officers were sent to Walgreens on a report of a theft that had just occurred. Upon arrival the suspect was not located. At approx. 2016 hrs. officers were sent back to the area as the subject had returned to the store. Officers located a 20-year-old San Francisco man who was positively identified as responsible for the earlier theft. A citizen arrest was obtained and the man was booked into County Jail.

Shoplift Robbery - (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0009 hours officers were sent to Safeway on a report that employees were sprayed with mace by a subject who was confronted for stealing merchandise. Upon arrival it was determined that (S), a BMA, approx. 40 years old, tall, thin build and wearing a blue jacket with white and red stripes, stole merchandise and exited the store. When (S) was confronted by staff, he sprayed mace into the eyes of the uniformed security guard and fled in a gray or silver vehicle.

July 18th

Auto Burglary – 2400 block of Edwards Ave:
At 0708 hours, an officer responded the report of an unknown suspect forcing the door on a work van and entering the van. Once inside, the suspect punched the ignition and unsuccessfully tried to hot wire the vehicle. Failing to start the van, the stole a tool box containing approx. $1000.00 in tools. The victim reported hearing noises around the van at 0400 hours but thought it might be the recycling truck.

Grand Theft – 10 block of Carmel Ave:
At 1114 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft of $2000 worth of hand tools from an unsecured truck’s camper shell. The theft occurred between 07-13 until 07-18-17 at 1110 hours.

Shoplift – (Walgreen’s) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1707 hours, an officer responded to the report of a shoplifter who stole cosmetics, batteries and electronics. The 35-year-old female suspect from Oakland was located at the Del Norte BART station. She was placed under citizen’s arrest, booked, and released on a citation.

Shoplift – (Marshall’s) 10759 San Pablo Ave:
At 1902 hours, Marshall’s called regarding a shoplifter in-custody. The above mentioned 35-year-old female suspect from Oakland immediately headed to Marshall’s upon her releases from ECPD custody on a citation. Once at Marshall’s, she selected a purse. She proceeded to fill the purse with clothing, cosmetics, and electronics and then left the store without paying. She was placed under citizen arrest, booked at the ECPD and then transported to County Jail due to the likelihood the thefts would continue.

Shoplift, Resist or Delay an Officer, Probation Violation – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 2141 hours, an officer was flagged down regarding a theft and detained a 25-year-old man from Richmond. The man stole 15 cans of 211 Beer and a rotisserie chicken. The suspect refused to cooperate and resisted attempts to handcuff him and tried to wiggle free. He is on felony probation in Contra Costa. He was arrested and booked directly into MDF.

July 19th

Auto Burglary - 10200 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1515 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. The victim’s Chevy had the window was smashed and personal property was stolen at approximately 1500 hours. The suspect was a black male in a gray sedan.

Stolen Auto – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1154 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto theft. On July 19th the owner of a gray 2002 Ford Taurus parked his vehicle in the Safeway lot. The vehicle was stolen by an associate.

Residential Burglary - 500 block of Clayton Ave:
At 1353 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. (S) Unknown(s) entered through a small side door window. The burglary occurred between 07-17-2017 at 0830 hours and 07-19-2017 at 1100 hours.

Auto Burglary - 10200 San Pablo Ave:
At 1515 hours, officers responded to the report of an auto burglary. The victim’s Chevy had the window was smashed and her driver’s license, social security card and $300 in cash was stolen at approximately 1500 hours. The suspect was a black male adult who fled in a gray Nissan Altima driven by a black female suspect.

Shoplifting - (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1705 hours, Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person who was known to steal inside the store. An officer detained her as she exited the store with stolen merchandise. She was placed under citizen’s arrest after it was determined that she stole cosmetics and jewelry. She was booked and released on a citation.

Possess Stolen Motorcycle – 00 block of Dylans Way:
At 1810 hours, an officer responded to a civil standby to assist the owner with initiating the eviction process. During a walkthrough of the property he located a stolen 1998 Honda motorcycle in the garage. The motorcycle was reported stolen to Vallejo PD on 6/23/17. A 68-year-old male resident was arrested. The suspect was booked at the ECPD and pending further investigation.

Warrant – Barrett Ave / Tamalpais Ave:
At 2149 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 39-year-old Kensington man on a Contra Costa County warrant stemming from a 2016 ECPD case. He was booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.

July 20th

Warrant Arrest - San Pablo Ave. / Cypress Ave.:
At 0833 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver, a 17-year-old Richmond girl on a felony robbery / assault with a deadly weapon warrant. She was arrested, booked and transported to the Juvenile Hall.

Vehicle Tampering, Possess Burglary Tools – 1800 Block of Liberty:
At 1638 hours, Officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, an officer located a 15-year-old male juvenile and a 17-year-old male juvenile who attempted to discard burglary tools upon seeing the officer. The victim’s vehicle was damaged but not entered and placed the juveniles under citizen arrest. They were transported to the ECPD where it was determined they provided false names. Both were reported as missing as runaways. The 15-year-old was wanted on a no bail Alameda County and transported to juvenile hall in Martinez. The 17-year-old was released to his father.
