Advisory

No Parking & Street Closures for Colorfest weekend

Providing public safety to our citizens and its visitors is paramount. The Thurmont Police Department and Town Officials will continue in a collaborative manner to ensure that our community is safe and secure. In doing so, the following adjustments have to be made:

1) As a result of the sidewalk construction on North Church Street, the roadway lost approximately two feet of width, which causes a safety issue when vehicles park or stop along the sidewalk. Emergency vehicles as well as large vehicles cannot pass freely and safely. Furthermore, State law prohibits vehicles from blocking any portion of a roadway. Therefore, the Town of Thurmont will prohibit vehicles to stop, stand or park at anytime on North Church Street.

2) Colorfest 2017- Friday, October 13th through Sunday, October 15th, “No” Parking signs will be installed on Apples Church Road (eastside) from Carroll Street to Eyler Road.

The Thurmont Police Department has been directed to strictly enforce these restrictions.

We apologize for any inconvenience and ask that you assist us in keeping our community safe.

Sincerely,

Chief Gregory L. Eyler
