The Frankfort Police Department’s biggest tip for crime prevention over the past two years has been “Lock it or Lose it”. Burglaries to motor vehicles have been on the rise over the past few years throughout the Chicagoland area including all of the surrounding communities. In most instances, the offenders are looking for vehicles left unlocked. This past weekend we had numerous burglaries to motor vehicles occur and three vehicle thefts. In all of these cases, the vehicles were left unlocked and in the case of the vehicle thefts, the keys were left inside of the vehicles. Those committing these burglaries will typically target one area and then move on to another area immediately. We need you to help us keep our community safe. Please lock your vehicle doors, do not leave your keys or key fobs inside of your vehicles, and call in any suspicious vehicles, noises, or persons you may observe. Frankfort’s Night Out Against Crime

Frankfort’s Night Out Against Crime is on Tuesday, August 1st from 6-8 p.m. Come out for free hot dogs (first 500), refreshments, safety demonstrations, bounce houses, touch a truck, raffle prizes, and more! This year we will have a paper shredding event in correlation with our event. The shred truck will be at Oak and Elwood from 6-7 p.m. Also, we will have Will County’s Plain Sight Trailer at our event. This is an interactive and educational experience to show parents how to look for signs of drug use in a simulated teenager’s bedroom. This is one event you won’t want to miss!
