Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man that occurred on Monday, July 24, 2017, at 10:56 p.m., at East Cypress Street and South Crane Avenue, Compton.

The suspect's vehicle, a grey BMW, was recovered a short distance away.

The suspect has been identified as 44 year-old Frankie Mazen III, male Black. Mazen is outstanding and is wanted for questioning regarding this incident.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man that occurred on Monday, July 24, 2017, at 10:56 p.m., at East Cypress Street and South Crane Avenue, Compton.

Compton Station deputies responded to the location regarding a “vehicle versus pedestrian” call. Upon their arrival, they learned that the victim was at the location with some friends. The suspect drove up to the location, exited his vehicle, and began arguing with the victim.

The argument lead to a fist fight.  The suspect re-entered his vehicle and began to drive away.  The suspect then made a U-turn, returned to the location, and struck the victim.

The suspect fled eastbound on Cypress Street and out of view.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim is described as a 30 year-old male Black.

The suspect is described as a male Black adult driving a grey sedan.
