Rancho Cucamonga Deputies Assist Chaffey College With An Officer Involved Shooting

INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Officer Involved Shooting
LOCATION: Chaffey College, Rancho Cucamonga Campus
SUSPECT(S): Jullian Burdwell, 34-year-old female from Ontario
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at approximately 6:40 am, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department assisted the Chaffey College Police Department reference an officer involved shooting that occurred in the Northwest parking lot of Chaffey College. Deputies arrived and found the female suspect, Jullian Burdwell, detained by the Chaffey College Police Officer.
Through investigation, detectives concluded Burdwell was contacted by a Chaffey College Police Officer inside her parked vehicle in the northwest campus parking lot. During the contact circumstances led to an officer involved shooting. Burdwell drove away from the scene and a vehicle pursuit involving the Chaffey College Officer and Burdwell ensued. The pursuit traversed several city streets before reentering the northwest Chaffey College parking lot. The Chaffey College Officer observed several Chaffey College employees walking in the area and believed Burdwell was directing her vehicle towards their direction. The officer conducted an effective Legal Intervention Maneuver disabling Burdwell's vehicle and ultimately took her into custody.
Detectives determined Burdwell did not suffer a gunshot wound. However, she was transported to a local area hospital for precautionary measures. The Rancho Cucamonga Police Department will be conducting the investigation into the officer involved shooting.
Burdwell was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, felony evasion and obstructing an officer. She was booked into the West Valley Detention Center, and her bail was set at $50,000.
