Police Charge 16-Year-Old Male in East University Parkway Homicide
A 16-year-old male faces a homicide charge in connection to the July 13th murder of Michael Jerod Harris.
The juvenile is currently being held, with no bond, at the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center. He is expected have an initial appearance and detention hearing at 10:30 a.m., Monday in Madison County Juvenile Court.
Investigators developed the case and identified the 16-year-old as a suspect. The investigation remains ongoing. Around 4:50 a.m. on July 13, police were called about a shooting on East University Parkway. Officers arrived and found Harris, 21, of Jackson, lying on the ground in the 60 block of East University Parkway. Evidence at the scene indicated he was shot outside in the area. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
