Accreditation Assessment Team Visits OSBI
ACCREDITATION ASSESSMENT TEAM INVITES PUBLIC COMMENT
(Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) will arrive on July 23, 2017, to examine all aspects of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services, Director Stan Florence announced today.
Verification by the team that the OSBI meets the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to maintain accreditation---a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence.
As part of the site-based assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments to the assessment team by telephone. The public may call this toll-free number, 1-800-522-8017 or 405-879-2659, on Monday, July 24, 2017, between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. The standards are available at OSBI Headquarters, 6600 N. Harvey, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The assessment team is composed of public safety practitioners from similar but out-of-state agencies. The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit offices and other locations where compliance can be witnessed.
Accreditation is for three years, during which the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.
