On 7/19/2017 at 2:32 P.M. the Police Department received a report that a theft of baby formula had just occurred at the Vons Supermarket located at 1855 E. Cochran Street. It was reported that four male suspects ran out of the store with numerous cans of baby formula. They were seen leaving the area in a brown SUV. A description of the suspects and the suspect vehicle was broadcast to officers and a matching vehicle was observed in the area soon thereafter. A stop of the vehicle ensued and five suspects were taken into custody. The baby formula stolen from the Vons Supermarket, which had an approximate value of $730.00, was recovered from the suspect's vehicle. In addition to the baby formula stolen from Vons, a large quantity of formula estimated at between $2,000 to $3,000 was also recovered from the car.
The arrest of these five suspects brought the total number of arrests for baby formula thefts to twelve within the last four days from three separate incidents. It is not known at this time if these three thefts or the involved suspects are linked in any way. What is known is that all the suspects are residents of Los Angeles and are believed to have come to Simi Valley intent on stealing baby formula. The five suspects arrested today will be booked into the Ventura County Jail for conspiracy and shoplift. The names and ages of the suspects are listed below and booking photos can be obtained through the Ventura County Sheriffs Department.
