DATE AND TIME: Approximately 6:15 PM on Friday, July 7, 2017
LOCATION: Crystal Lake, Crystal Township

The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit observed a reckless boater on Crystal Lake and determined the operator was intoxicated. The woman was arrested for Operating a Water Vessel While Intoxicated. The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 PM on Friday, July 7, 2017.
Marine Deputies observed a jet ski drive through the wake of another boat and continue driving very near the Deputies’ boat. When summoned to speak with the Deputies, the driver of the jet ski had difficulty operating the unit and struck the Deputies’ boat. The driver, Daniele Leigh Mills, age 24 from Crystal, was contacted and through the investigation, was determined to be intoxicated. Mills was taken into custody and lodged at the Montcalm County Jail. Mills is currently out on a $500.00 bond.
The Michigan State Police assisted with the investigation. Neither of the boats were damaged.
