SAN LEANDRO, CA – On July 13th, over 30 teams from across the region will participate in the San Leandro Police Department’s 10th Annual SWAT Fitness Challenge at the San Leandro Marina. To register, each participating team was asked to raise $500, which will be donated to George Mark Children’s House, a pediatric palliative care center in San Leandro. This event has proudly donated over $150,000 to this worthy cause.
This event is open to the public and it will be held this Thursday, July 13th at the San Leandro Marina. Come cheer on the law enforcment officers as they are raising money for our local charity.
Teams will compete in six different events that test strength, endurance, and teamwork. These events include tractor tire flips, swimming, over 10 miles of running, and a bulls-eye range course. Each team will be scored individually for each event, and first, second, and third place finishes will be awarded to the teams with the best combined scores.
Chief Tudor stated, ““Fitness and fundraising- The SWAT fitness challenge comes together as a means of raising funds for an amazing cause which supports families with terminally ill children. In addition to testing the physical strength and endurance of tactical teams. I'm proud that San Leandro Police Department, through the Fitness Challenge, is building partnerships throughout the region which enhances community/police relationships. Lt Randy Brandt's passion for fitness and community service has been the foundation to the success of this event. I would invite you to support your teams and come out to the event this year
George Mark Children’s House provides palliative care for children and young adults with life-limiting illnesses. With an emphasis on quality of life and family-focused care, the organization bridges the gap between hospital and home. “We are so appreciative of the support of these SWAT teams,” said Dr. Kathy Hull, founder of George Mark Children’s House. “These men and woman have committed their careers to tirelessly serving their own communities, and we are so touched by the commitment and service that they have shown our George Mark community.”
“We would love nothing more than to see our community come out and support these officers who raised money for this worthy cause," said Lieutenant Randy Brandt, the founder and organizer of the challenge.
The public is encouraged to come watch the events and cheer on their local law enforcement officials at this picnic like setting.
