Sunday, June 25, 2017
Warrant Arrest Location: 2600 Block of The Alameda
An officer was dispatched to the 2600 block of The Alameda on the report of two male suspects dumping carpet and bicycles in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, the officer came across three males connected with the vehicle described by the reporting party. A Records check revealed one of the individuals had an outstanding warrant and was on active probation. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Monday, June 26, 2017
Grand Theft Location: 3900 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard
Public Safety Dispatchers received a call of a theft in progress on the 3900 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard. According to the reporting party, a male subject entered a store, selected a $7,000 necklace from a display case and fled on foot. A store employee and customer chased and apprehended the suspect before calling 9-1-1. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Drug Paraphernalia Location: 1700 Block of Banff Drive, Sunnyvale
Special Enforcement Team (SET) Detectives conducted a probation compliance check on a male subject in Sunnyvale. A search of the subject’s house revealed drug paraphernalia. The subject was arrested and booked into the temporarily holding facility.

Residential Burglary Location: 400 Block of Winchester Boulevard
An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Winchester Boulevard on the report of a prior burglary. The unknown suspect(s) stole a television, Nike Air Jordan sneakers and approximately $3,000 in cash. Upon officer arrival there was also an exceptionally large amount of marijuana scattered about the apartment floor in the living room, kitchen and bedroom. It is estimated the total loss was approximately $4,150. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Municipal Code Violation Location: El Camino Real and Lawrence Expressway
An officer was patrolling the area of Lawrence Expressway and El Camino Real when a male subject was observed soliciting donations, causing traffic problems. The officer witnessed a vehicle stop in the left turn lane and hand the subject cash.

The officer made contact with the subject, and discussed a warning the officer provided to the subject at the same intersection weeks earlier. The officer issued a citation for solicitation in a public right of way. The subject signed the citation, was provided a copy and released at the scene.

Resisting Arrest Location: Lafayette Street near Walsh Avenue
An officer was on a police motorcycle on Lafayette Street near Walsh Avenue when an unknown male motorist stopped next to the officer at a signal light. The motorist informed the officer that there was a spray painted vehicle with no license plates, doors or hood parked in front of Home Depot. The motorist described the person with the associated vehicle as a "tweaker.”

The officer observed a male subject drive the vehicle down Lafayette Street. Before the officer activated emergency lights, the driver stopped in a red no parking zone along El Camino Real. The subject immediately exited his vehicle and started shouting at the officer. The officer observed a wooden handle sticking out of the subject’s front pants pocket but couldn’t make out what the item was. While the officer called for additional resources, the subject paced back and forth along the sidewalk shouting the entire time.

Once additional police officers arrived on the scene, the subject was handcuffed using control holds. A search of his person yielded a flooring knife with a 3” fixed metal blade and wooden handle. The subject did not have any identification and was transported to the temporary holding facility.

A Records check revealed the subject had a valid driver’s license and no wants. The vehicle was not on record, however the subject stated it was recently purchased. The subject was arrested for concealing a dirk/dagger and resisting arrest. For precautionary measure, the vehicle was towed from the scene until further details could be obtained regarding its ownership.

Commercial Burglary Location: 3900 Block of Rivermark Plaza
Officers were dispatched to Safeway on the 3900 block of Rivermark Plaza on the report of a prior theft. According to a store employee, the liquor storage area had been tampered with and approximately $2,295 worth of liquor was pilfered.

Video surveillance was available to officers and disclosed two suspects prying open the glass encased liquor cabinet. Latent fingerprints were gathered at the scene. The suspects have not been identified and remain outstanding at the time of this report.

Warrant Arrest Location: Portola Avenue and The Alameda

At approximately 2253 hours, an officer observed a male suspect discard an aluminum can on the sidewalk at The Alameda and Portola Avenue. The officer initiated a enforcement stop for littering. A Records check revealed that the suspect had a $50,000 warrant for his arrest out of Butte County. Representatives from Butte County confirmed the warrant and requested cite and release only. The officer cited and released the subject with a new court date.

NOTE: Police officers, working overtime, responded to approximately 17 several calls for service related to illegal fireworks. Residents who were prepared to provide a specific address to the Public Safety Dispatchers for noise and safety complaints were addressed prior to more general calls.

NOTE: At 2355 hours, a sideshow occurred in the rear parking lot of the Mercado. An officer witnessed several individuals exit their moving vehicle and dance beside and around it, called "ghost riding the whip.” An excess of 200+ vehicles were in the parking lot watching the sideshow.

A heavy presence of SCPD patrol units quickly swooped into the area and the sideshow came to an abrupt end. An officer positioned an automatic license plate recognition device to capture the attendees' license plates. Fortunately, this sideshow ended safely and peacefully.
