PVEPD arrests 4 suspects for suspicion of burglary

Did you have jewelry stolen?

This past Monday, July 3rd, at about 11:00 pm, a PVEPD officer was patrolling in the 600 block of Paseo Del Mar and conducted a traffic stop on a white mini-van for an equipment violation. Upon speaking with the driver, it was determined that he did not have a valid license. The officer noticed suspicious items in the mini-van and conducted a vehicle search. The officer found several tools including bolt cutters, gloves, screwdrivers, a flashlight and a crow bar. These tools led the officer to believe the occupants had them for the purpose of committing burglaries. Furthermore, there were items in the vehicle that the officer believed were stolen. All four occupants stated they had previously been arrested for theft crimes. The officer placed all four persons under arrest for suspicion of burglary.

Detectives continued the investigation and contacted one victim who confirmed a recovered item was stolen from her vehicle in January in the Pasadena area.

Also in the suspect’s vehicle were three pieces of brand new jewelry (still in the box). Detectives believe these items could have been stolen, but have not been able to locate a victim. If you or someone you know had similar items stolen, please contact Detective Sergeant Luke Hellinga at (310) 378-4211 for more details.
