***UPDATE***
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a woman, and the wounding of a man that were discovered Saturday, July 1, 2017, at approximately 11:07 AM, in the 13900 block of Coteau Drive, unincorporated Whittier.

Detectives have learned that Norwalk Sheriff Station personnel responded to the location regarding a “Gunshot Victim” call.  Upon their arrival they saw a male and female who had both sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso.

The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male victim was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in an unknown condition.

Preliminary investigations reveal the female victim and the suspect, who is described as a male Hispanic adult, were engaged in a previous relationship.  They have two children in common, ranging from the ages of seven and nine.

The female victim and suspect were involved in a child exchange, at which time the suspect shot the male victim, and female victim, for unknown reasons.  It is unclear if the children witnessed any portions of this crime, however they were not injured.

Shortly after the shooting, the male suspect turned himself into a local police department.  He is being detained pending interviews with detectives.
