On July 2, 2017, at approximately 11:50 am, a Simi Valley resident was having her vehicle washed at a Simi Valley car wash when the attendant summoned her to get the finished vehicle. Thinking that the women who came to get the vehicle was the owner, the car wash attendant gave her the keys and she left the location with the vehicle. The car wash attendant soon realized that the women that he gave the vehicle keys to was not the owner of the vehicle and was actually a woman who took advantage of an opportunity to illegally take a vehicle.
Shortly after the Simi Valley Dispatchers notified on-duty Police personnel of the stolen vehicle, an officer saw the stolen vehicle on First Street and Los Angeles Avenue. Based on the fact that the vehicle was stolen, Police personnel initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver, Brenda Hendrix (33 years) was taken into custody without incident.
Hendrix was booked at the Ventura County Jail Facility for 10851 V.C. - Unlawful Taking of a Vehicle.
