Advisory

The Fourth of July can be a fun time with great memories. Take these extra precautions and your holiday will be a blast.

The Fourth of July can be a fun time with great memories. But before you celebrate, take these extra precautions and your holiday will be a blast!

• Temple City only allows the use of "Safe and Sane" fireworks on
July 4th, between the hours of noon and 10 p.m.
• "Safe and Sane" fireworks are identified by the State Fire
Marshal's "Safe and Sane" Seal.
• Use of fireworks is prohibited on City property, including parks
and parking lots.
• Know your fireworks; read the cautionary labels and performance
descriptions before igniting.
• A responsible adult SHOULD supervise all firework activities.
• Think about your pet. Animals have sensitive ears and can be
extremely frightened or stressed on the Fourth of July. Keep pets
indoors to reduce the risk that they'll run loose or get injured.
• Alcohol and fireworks do not mix.
• Light one firework at a time and then quickly move away.
• Use fireworks OUTDOORS in a clear area; away from buildings,
vehicles and dry brush.
• Never relight a "dud" firework. Waite 20 minutes and then soak it
in a bucket of water.
• Always have a bucket of water and a charged water hose nearby.
• Never carry fireworks in your pocket or shoot them into metal or
glass containers.
• Do not experiment with homemade fireworks.
• Dispose of spent fireworks by wetting them down and placing in
a metal trash can away from any building or combustible
materials until the next day.
• Report illegal fireworks like sky rockets, bottle rockets,
firecrackers, Roman candles, M-80s and cherry bombs to the
Sheriff's Department or Fire Department.

The use and/or possession of dangerous fireworks is illegal and those who are caught, can be fined for violations that range from $250 to $5,000. Property owners can be held responsible if illegal fireworks are used on their property, or if illegal fireworks are in the possession of others.

Thank you for helping keep our city safe. We wish you a fun, festive, and freedom-filled Fourth of July!
