Man And Woman Convicted In Death Of 5-Year-Old.

Harris County, TX A Harris County jury has sentenced Sherrick Washington, 27 to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the beating death of his then girlfriend’s 5- year-old son.

The victim, Amarie Daniels, was Washington’s girlfriend’s son.

Evidence showed that Washington threw Amarie against the wall, refrigerator and furniture, and the boy later died of his injuries.

The trail, which was held in State District Judge Denise Collins’ court, ended Thursday.

The case was prosecuted by Harris County Assistant District Attorney Daniel Werlinger.
On May 3, 2015, HCSO deputies responded to an apartment in the 200 block of Wells Fargo in north Harris County.

When deputies arrived Emergency Medical Services were treating the child who had labored breathing.

The mother and Washington, told deputies the child had suffered a head injury the previous day while playing with other children.

The boy was transported by LifeFlight to an area hospital.

While there doctors found that the child had suffered a skull fracture, along with other bruises and abrasions and fractures.

The child was pronounced deceased by doctors later that evening.
HCSO Homicide Unit began an investigation on this case.

Investigators interviewed the mother of the child, Brandi Howard, and she told investigators that she had previously lied to deputies about how the child was injured.

She told investigators that Washington had beaten the child because he was angry with Ms. Howard.

Howard, told investigators Washington punched the child in the chest and then threw him against a wall several times.

Investigators collected evidence from the apartment that was consistent with the child’s injuries, which lead them to charge Washington with capital murder under 6 years of age.

Brandi Howard was charged with injury to a child by omission, and was sentenced to 10 years’ probation and 180 days in the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility by a jury.
