(Burson, CA) On 6-29-17 members of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team and the Calaveras County Sheriff’s SWAT Team executed a high risk criminal search warrant on the 2900 block of Hwy 12 in the township of Burson. The location contained a marijuana grow site that attempted to register with the county however, the registration was later denied. Eleven hundred (1100) growing marijuana plants were located and destroyed. In addition to the marijuana plants, approximately sixty (60) pounds of processed marijuana, a significant amount of concentrated cannabis, anabolic steroids and a firearm were seized.
36-year-old Efren Chavira of Lockeford and 25-year-old Luis Chavira of Burson were located on the property and taken into custody without incident as a result of the investigation. Efren Chavira was booked into CCSO Jail for Possession of Controlled Substance, Cultivation of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana for Sale, Conspiracy, and Possession of Ammunition by prohibited person, Bail $70,000. Luis Chavira was booked for Cultivation of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana for Sale, Possession of Controlled Substance, and Conspiracy, Bail $35,000.
This was the site of a previous high risk search warrant served in 2014 where multiple pounds of methamphetamine were seized and subjects were arrested.
