Modesto, CA – Two men, one from Manteca and the other from Lathrop, were arrested yesterday in connection to five armed robberies in Modesto.

The robberies began on May 14, 2017 when two men entered the Chevron store on Kansas Avenue, armed with handguns. The suspects’ faces were covered as they displayed their guns to an employee and demanded money before fleeing the business. Three additional robberies involving the described suspects followed at Chevron on Pelandale, Chevron on Kansas, and Game Stop on McHenry.

Yesterday at about 3:00 p.m., another robbery occurred at Metro PCS on Standiford Avenue. Officers with the Modesto Narcotics Enforcement Team were in the area when they spotted a vehicle matching the description a witness provided. Officers followed the suspects to Manteca where a traffic stop was conducted with the assistance of Manteca Police.

Javier Sandoval Dominguez, 26 years, of Lathrop and Manuel Morales Martinez, 25 years, of Manteca were booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for 5 counts of robbery and 5 counts of criminal conspiracy.

Detectives have been working with Manteca Police Department and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department who have had approximately 10 similar robberies in their jurisdictions. Detectives will continue to work with those agencies to help prove their cases involving Sandoval and Martinez.
