A Yucca Valley man leads deputies on a high-speed pursuit with his son in the car

SUSPECT(S): Levi Korhonen 42-year-old, resident of Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On June 29, 2017, at about 01:36 A.M., deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Levi Korhonen. The suspect failed to yield to the deputies’ emergency lights, and sirens and a pursuit ensued. Korhonen failed to stop at posted stop signs, drove on the wrong side of the road, and reached speeds of 100 MPH. The pursuit traveled through several residential streets in the Town of Yucca Valley. Due to the time of night, there was very little traffic in the area. Korhonen attempted to drive his vehicle through a dirt wash, and the vehicle became disabled. Korhonen fled from the vehicle and deputies located him in the back yard of a residence. Deputies also discovered Korhonen’s 17-year-old son was the passenger in the vehicle during the pursuit. Korhonen was arrested and booked into the Morongo jail for felony evading and child endangerment. His 17-year-old son was taken to family members in the area.
