Deputies Find Missing Swimmer at Modesto Reservoir
At about 4:00 p.m. yesterday, deputies and firefighters were dispatched to the main boat ramp at Modesto Reservoir for a missing swimmer. 21-year-old Nelson Guerra of Turlock had been swimming in the cove with some friends near the main boat ramp. The group was swimming to an island when he became distressed and they were unable to find him.
Deputies, firefighters, and two helicopters attempted to locate Guerra but they were unable to find him. The area where he was last seen was about 100 feet from the shoreline and low visibility in the water made it difficult for deputies to search. The Sheriff's Office Dive Team responded and at about 10:08 p.m., Guerra was found in the general area where he was last seen.
