Deputies arrest a man after he attempted to cash a stolen check
DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT: Thursday, June 22, 2017 4:15 p.m.
INCIDENT: FORGERY/ RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY/ POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE
SUSPECT: Kelvin Young, 22 years old, resident of Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, June 22, 2017 at approximately 4:15 p.m., Kelvin Young entered the US Bank located inside the Stater Bros. Market, 14168 US Highway 395 in Adelanto.
Young handed the teller a check in the amount of $1,092.00 and requested to cash it. Young signed his name on the back of the check and gave the teller his identification. The bank teller immediately confirmed with the owner of the check that the check was stolen and notified law enforcement.
When Deputies Robert Escalera and Pedro Ortiz arrived at the bank and made contact with Young, he was found to be in possession of additional stolen checks from multiple victims and methamphetamine. Kelvin Young was booked at the High Desert Detention Center where he is being held without bail on a probation violation.
