Dearborn Police reminds residents to follow proper fireworks laws.

Fireworks can only be used the day of, day after & day prior to certain holidays & prior to 12AM. See email.

Residents are advised that they can legally use consumer fireworks (e.g., bottle rockets, firecrackers, roman candles, and other items that leave the ground when discharged) only on the day of, day prior and day after certain recognized holidays. July 4, 2017 is a recognized holiday.

Residents are only permitted to use fireworks when following the below rules:

-Minors may not use fireworks

- Fireworks may not be used on public property or private property of another person unless express permission is obtained.

- Individuals under the influence of drugs or alcohol may not use fireworks.

- No person is permitted to use consumer fireworks on the day before, the day of or the day after a recognized holiday between the hours of 12 midnight and 8 AM.

- The right to discharge fireworks ends at the individual’s property line.

Residents are asked to be considerate of their neighbors when using any fireworks. Always think safety first, take precautions to avoid injuries, fires or damage to property.

Dearborn Police will enforce any fireworks related violations. Report any unusual or suspicious circumstance to the Suspicious Activity Hotline @ 313.943.3030. Callers speak directly to a police dispatcher and may remain anonymous.
