FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A TRAVEL ADVISORY (LEVEL I) HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR WAYNE COUNTY ROADWAYS AND THE STREETS OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND AND THE TOWN OF CENTERVILLE DUE TO CONTINUED RAIN THAT HAS CAUSED PONDING AND FLOODING OF SEVERAL ROADWAYS AND STREETS MAKING TRAVEL HAZARDOUS.

This TRAVEL ADVISORY takes effect at 2:45 PM on Friday, June 23, 2017. This Advisory applies to all roads maintained by Wayne County Highway Department and the Street Departments of City of Richmond and the Town of Centerville. This Advisory will remain in effect until Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 8:00AM.

This TRAVEL ADVISORY has been issued to warn those who must travel on Wayne County roadways and City Streets to use extreme caution due to ponding of water and flooded roadways causing hazardous travel conditions.

If you must drive during this advisory, remain alert and use caution as you may encounter flooded roadways and rapidly changing road conditions. Allow extra time to get to your destination, reduce your speed and increase the following distance from the vehicle ahead. Avoid sudden changes in speed and apply brakes and accelerator slowly and gently. Do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways. TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN!

A LEVEL I TRAVEL ADVISORY DOES NOT IMPOSE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON TRAVEL ON COUNTY ROADWAYS. MOTORISTS MAY TRAVEL AT THEIR OWN RISK.
