The following part one crimes were reported for this period.      
Residential Burglary-
A resident in the 27000 block of Violin Canyon reported $6,000 in US currency stolen from his home between 6-16 and 6-18.  It appeared entry was made through the kitchen window.  The victim said nothing else in the house was missing or disturbed.      
Grand Theft Auto-
The victim reported his black 2014 GMC Sierra truck taken without his permission by a friend.  When contacted by phone the friend wouldn’t answer.  The vehicle was not returned.    
With the large amount of rain we received this last year, our local hills and are covered with an abundant amount of brush.  With the recent heat wave, this brush has dried out and is now a fuel source for brush fires.  Please help keep our community safe this summer and refrain from using any fireworks.  Remember, all fireworks are “illegal” in Castaic and Val Verde.  The City and the County have planned safe firework shows for the community to enjoy.   
Remember, in any community, the citizens are the first set of eyes and ears for 1^st responders.  It is the community who knows what “does” and “doesn’t” look right.  It is you, the local citizens, who can tell who “does” and “doesn’t” belong in the area.  If you see any suspicious activity, something that doesn’t look “right”, please call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.
Please be aware that many of the thefts we have seen in the past have been “Crimes of Opportunity”.  Never leave valuables in plain view in your vehicle, close and lock your doors.  Minimize your risk of becoming a victim.
