On June 9, 2017, a chain snatch robbery was reported on Trafalgar Rd. The victim described the suspect as a black male driving a green Buick with paper license plates. On June 16, 2017, a similar chain snatch robbery occurred in the Charter Square plaza parking lot. The victim and witnesses also described the suspect as a black male driving a green Buick with paper license plates. Investigators reviewed video from a nearby Community Camera system and identified the suspect vehicle. The vehicle had distinct features which led robbery detectives to identify the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
Investigators then developed information on the suspect, identified as Kenyon Thomas, a 21 years old Fremont resident and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On June 17, 2017, members of the Special Investigations Unit located the suspect at an address on Lake Mask Place in Fremont. The suspect was followed away and arrested shortly after. He admitted to his involvement in both robberies.
