Cone with a Cop and Summer Safety

Join us this Friday, June 23rd for our “Cone With A Cop Event” at Sweet Frog- 9645 Lincoln-Way Ln #109 Frankfort, IL. This event will take place form 2-3 p.m. rain or shine! Come out and meet Chief John Burica and other Frankfort Police Officers for conversation and an ice cream cone. No speeches, no agendas, just an opportunity to meet with those who serve your community. This will be a great family friendly event, we hope to see you there!

Enjoy Being Outside This Summer, But Frankfort PD wants to remind you to always remember to think safety-
#1 Walk, run, or bike in pairs. If possible have a friend or family member with you especially when out in isolated/unfamiliar areas or on nature type trials. If this isn’t possible, bringing your dog with you? Dogs are great protectors and would love some exercise too!
#2 Bring a cellular phone with you and know where you are. In case of an emergency it is a great idea to have a cellular phone with you to phone in emergencies. The Old Plank Road Trail now has mile markers so you can tell first responders where to find you if needed. Pay attention to street intersections so you can relay that if needed. It will make it easier to locate a person if needed
#3 Pay attention to your surroundings and always call in suspicious people or incidents. Listening to music may make your time more enjoyable, but it also makes you an easier target. If you do listen to music make sure the volume is low or you leave an earbud out so you can hear what’s going on around you.

Did you know that the Frankfort Police Department regularly patrols the Old Plank Road Trail in Frankfort’s jurisdiction? You may see us walking, biking, or even out on our UTV patrolling the trail. Feel free to stop us to chat or ask a question!

Finally with summer in full swing we want to remind to “Lock it or Lose it”. We have become aware of an increase to burglary to motor vehicles in the south suburbs. Please remember to lock your car doors and remove valuables when possible! Please never leave your keys or key fobs in your car. We also ask that if you see anything out of the ordinary or hear anything, such as a car door shutting or dog barking at an unusual time, call Frankfort Police Department immediately at 911 (emergency) or 815-485-2500 (non-emergency).

Have a great summer!
