Advisory

See the Village website or your email for information on a fraudulent activity which occurred in the Village.

On Tuesday June 20th, 2017 an Olympia Fields resident received a “Notification of Reward” postcard in the mail which offered an “unclaimed reward of $100.00 at Wal-Mart, Target and more on your account”.

The resident contacted the Olympia Fields Police Department regarding the postcard. Further investigation revealed the mailing was fraudulent and part of a scam. Thankfully, our resident did not call the number provided on the postcard or take any further action. An image of the postcard is being provided as an example of fraudulent activity.

Residents are reminded that if the “reward” or “offer” seems too good to be true, it probably is. Under no circumstances should you provide any personal identification information including name, date of birth, social security number, or banking information to anyone if an unsolicited “offer” is received.

When in doubt about the authenticity of any transaction or offer, please contact the Olympia Fields Police Department for further assistance.

Remember, If You See It, If You Hear IT, REPORT IT!
