HIT AND RUN SUSPECT ARRESTED; VICTIM STILL HOSPITALIZED

PASADENA, CA – Pasadena Police arrest the person responsible for a hit and run traffic collision that caused significant injuries to an elderly male. On Sunday, June 18, 2017 at about 3:40 pm, Pasadena Police and Paramedics responded to Villa Street just west of Lake Ave. on a report of a Hit and Run Collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian. The initial investigation revealed that the victim, a 64 year old man from Pasadena, was walking on the Villa Street sidewalk when a vehicle exiting a local business’ driveway struck him. Following the collision, the vehicle fled the scene without summoning aid or identifying himself. The victim suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition.

During the investigation, officers gathered a vehicle description. Approximately an hour and a half after the collision, officers observed a vehicle on East Colorado Blvd. matching the description of the Hit and Run vehicle. When patrol officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled and a brief pursuit occurred. Officers lost sight of the vehicle but a short while later the vehicle was located abandoned in the 200 block of Rosemead Blvd.

On Monday, June 19, 2017 at approximately 6:00 pm, Pasadena Police arrested Mikhail Ryabets, a 35 year old white male from Sunland for the hit and run. Suspect Ryabets, the registered owner of the car, came to the Pasadena Police Station attempting to report his car stolen. Evidence disproved his false statement and he was arrested for the Felony Hit and Run. Suspect was booked in the PPD Jail on $50,000 bail. He bonded out later that evening with a pending court date of August 1, 2017.
