...Excessively Hot Conditions to Continue Across the Lower Deserts Through Sunday and for the High Deserts Through Friday... .Strong high pressure aloft over the southwest states will create dangerously hot conditions across the deserts. Although the ridge will weaken some, excessive heat will continue all the way through the upcoming weekend for the lower deserts. ...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PDT SUNDAY...

* High Temperatures...118-122 This Afternoon and Wednesday, 112-118 Thursday through Saturday, and around 115 by Sunday.

* Impacts...A major increase in the potential for heat related illness and even death. Those working or exercising outdoors during the daytime, children and the elderly, and those without access to adequate air conditioning will be most at risk. A higher risk of tire blowouts. Delays or flight cancellations possible.

* Outlook...Slightly lower temperatures are expected Thursday through the weekend.

* AFFECTED AREAS: COACHELLA VALLEY ... SAN DIEGO COUNTY DESERTS ... SAN GORGONIO PASS NEAR BANNING

Instructions:

Take extra precautions...if you work or spend time outside. When possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
