A DUI driver hits an Edison power pole, flees the scene and is later arrested

LOCATION: Twentynine Palms Highway and Santa Fe Trail, Yucca Valley
SUSPECT: Kirsten Cooper, 23 years old, resident of Yucca Valley
SUMMARY:
On June 14, 2017 at 10:02 p.m. deputies responded to a report of a traffic collision at the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Santa Fe trail. Deputies located a Southern California Edison power pole with collision damage. The vehicle that collided with the power pole fled the scene of the accident. The vehicle was found a short time later at a residence down the street from the traffic collision. Through an investigation it was determined Kirsten Cooper was under the influence of alcohol and crashed her vehicle into the power pole. Cooper later pushed her vehicle away from the scene of the accident, to her residence.
Cooper was arrested and booked at the Morongo jail for hit and run and driving under the influence. The power pole was serviced and repaired by Southern California Edison.
