Registered sex offender annoys and threatens several young girls at Adelanto apartment community.

SUMMARY:
On Sunday, June 11, 2017, at 4:40 p.m., Deputy Lauren Abernathy was dispatched to a 911 call for suspicious circumstances at an apartment community at the 11200 block of Lee Avenue in Adelanto.
Deputy Abernathy’s investigation revealed the suspect, Wendell Pellum, jumped the fence to the pool area where multiple children were playing. Pellum made sexually explicit comments and threats to several young girls. The girls’ ages ranged from 8 to 14 years old. He grabbed one of the girls by the arm and pulled her towards him. Pellum threatened to harm the children and their families if they told anyone. He left the area on foot.
A short time later, deputies located Pellum. He was arrested for PC 647.6, annoying and molesting a child and for violating his parole. He was booked into High Desert Detention Center. Pellum is being held without bail on a parole hold.
Pellum did not live at the apartment community. He is currently on parole and is a registered sex offender.
