*Update*LASD Armed Barricaded Suspect, 9600 blk El Poche Street, South El Monte
After a constant effort of attempts to establish communication with the armed barricaded suspect by LASD Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) Special Weapons Team, making all attempts to bring about a peaceful resolution, made entry into the residence and subsequently located the suspect.
Fifty-one year old Martin E. Hernandez was arrested for Felony Spousal Assault and Terrorist Threats. He has since been transported to Temple Sheriff’s Station for booking.
The incident began at approximately 1:19 p.m. when Temple Station deputies responded to a residence located in the 9600 block of El Poche Street in South El Monte. The deputies contacted the suspect’s girlfriend at the location who informed them that during an argument, the suspect threatened her with a knife and made statements of setting the house on fire. Out of an abundance of caution, the deputies shut off the gas supply to the residence. They evacuated surrounding homes, initiated a containment of the residence and summoned CNT and SEB.
The evacuated residents have since returned to their homes.
No injuries were reported.
The weapon, a knife, was recovered.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
