Deputies arrest a man for failing to register as a sex offender

SUSPECT: Michael Anthony Gaudette, 23 years old, from Eugene, OR
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 9:47 p.m. deputies from the Colorado River Station responded to the "Best Motel" in Needles, California regarding a subject trespassing on the premises. Michael Anthony Gaudette was found hiding in a dark storage room inside the closed kitchen area of the hotel restaurant, and refused to provide identification to deputies. Through the investigation, he was identified and found to be a registered sex offender from Eugene, Oregon. A records check showed Gaudette was listed as a parolee at large and had last registered as a sex offender in April 2015 in Oregon. It was determined that Gaudette had been living and working in Needles, California for at least two weeks and failed to register as a sex offender with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
Michael Gaudette was arrested for PC 290(b); failure to register as a sex offender and was booked at the Needles jail where bail was set at $50,000.00.
