Advisory

Gros Ventre Rd is CLOSED at N Highway 89 to all traffic including bikes due to flood erosion. See link.

Per Grand Teton National Park, the Gros Ventre/Kelly Road has been significantly impacted by erosion forcing the closure of the roadway between Gros Ventre Junction at Highway 89 and the Gros Ventre Campground. This closure includes bicycle traffic. Traffic to Kelly and the Gros Ventre Campground will be rerouted via Antelope Flats road for the foreseeable future.

Teton County Emergency Management reminds everyone to be extremely careful due to the high water we are currently experiencing. The Flood Watch issued for Jackson Hole is in effect through Saturday afternoon, 6/10. River users need to be aware of rapidly changing conditions, including obstructions and strainers. If you are not experienced on the river, you should wait until high water subsides before heading out.

Tributaries like Flat Creek and Fish Creek are running extremely high as well, making normally leisurely activities such as tubing challenging and dangerous in places such as under low-hanging bridges. In all areas, waters are extremely cold despite warm valley temperatures, so hypothermia is also a risk.

Backcountry users need to be cautious crossing swollen streams in the late afternoon/early evening, as those are times for peak diurnal flows.

If you are a Teton County resident and need sandbags and sand for flood fighting, contact Teton County Road & Levee at 733-7190 during normal business hours to make an appointment to pick them up.
