On May 26, 2017, at about 0253 hours, officers from the Gilroy Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Hyde Park Drive and Victoria Drive for a report of suspicious subjects in the area. The caller was concerned due to recent burglaries in the area.

While en route to the call, officers learned that there were shots fired and a victim of a gunshot wound on scene. The victim’s injuries were non-life threatening.

The victim, an adult male, said he confronted two subjects that were burglarizing a vehicle parked near the intersection. As he confronted the two subjects, a third subject fired several shots with an unknown type firearm, striking the victim in his leg. The suspects then fled on foot.

Officers were able to arrest one of the involved suspects at the scene. Through additional investigation, the officers learned the outstanding subjects may have relocated to one of their residences on Ervin Court.

Officers surrounded the house and hailed the occupants out. Two subjects believed to be involved were detained at the residence. Another suspect believed to be involved was located and detained by detectives as he was walking on Princevalle Street.

At this time, we believe that all of the involved suspects are in custody. This is an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
