All police activity has cleared in the area of Erin Drive. 
Earlier today, a theft of a firearm from a residence on Erin Dr. was reported. During the investigation, a suspect in the theft fled from officers on foot. It was unknown whether the suspect was armed. A foot pursuit ensued involving officers from Oxford, Oxford Township, Miami University, and the BCSO. After an exhaustive search, which included using a police canine from BCSO, officers were unable to locate the suspect.
School officials chose to put Talawanda Middle School on a precautionary lock down. In addition, OPD stationed an officer at the intersection of Dana Dr. and SR 732 at school dismissal time to help ensure the safety of students who walked home.
The fleeing suspect was identified as Zachariah Williamson. In addition to being a suspect in the theft, he also wanted by other agencies. If you see Williamson, call 911.
