...Heavy Rain Expected at Times Through Tuesday Morning... .A cold front that has now moved over the area will meander for the next 24 hours and will bring multiple rounds of heavy rain to most of the area Tonight across most of the area, and continuing Tuesday morning in areas mainly south of I-12 and east of I-59. Heavy rainfall has already fallen this past weekend resulting in very saturated grounds. This has primed the area for a threat of flash flooding through Tuesday morning. ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING... The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for
* portions of southeast Louisiana and Mississippi, including the following areas, in southeast Louisiana, Assumption, Lower Jefferson, Lower Lafourche, Lower Plaquemines, Lower St. Bernard, Lower Terrebonne, Orleans, St. Charles, St. James, St. John The Baptist, St. Tammany, Upper Jefferson, Upper Lafourche, Upper Plaquemines, Upper St. Bernard, and Upper Terrebonne. In Mississippi, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, and Pearl River.
* through Tuesday morning
* A stalled front will likely bring another round or two of heavy rainfall over the watch area. Much of the area has already received heavy rainfall over the weekend which has resulted in a saturated ground.
* Additional heavy rainfall from thunderstorms is expected to produce additional amounts generally between 2 and 3 inches, much of which could fall in a brief period of time. Locally higher amounts are expected. This will result in rapid runoff and possible flash flooding. In addition there could be some minor river flooding issues as well.
