Over the weekend we had a touch of bad weather. More active weather is expected the next 48 hours which will likely come in waves as the main upper level low that has held us in this wetter pattern approaches. We will likely see at least 2 separate waves of showers/storms...but the devil is in the details of each one and how exactly they unfold.

Wave #1 - Today/Tonight/Early Tue

We expect storms to increase in coverage through the day today. Heavy rainfall will be the primary threat although they will be more scattered in nature initially so only very localized flooding will initially be a concern. However, as we get into the evening/overnight, storms are expected to increase in coverage and potentially a large complex would approach from AL during the overnight.

Wave #2 - Late Tuesday - Wednesday Afternoon

As the main upper low approaches, the severe storm risk will increase as the parameters that favor hail and damaging wind increase. Not a lot of confidence in how this plays out since we have to get through Wave #1 and any residual storms lingering on Tuesday, but, the parameters for large hail and damaging wind will exist late Tuesday into Wednesday afternoon as well as the potential for an isolated tornado (mostly across Central GA)

As with all storms/forecasts, there is a chance that these systems can change. Stay alert and monitor all news and radio outlets to get the latest information. For all public safety personnel, be cognizant of storm potential and plan accordingly. Bad weather typically means an increase in call volume, and that puts county personnel at a greater risk while traveling.
