Update: Victims identified.
The victims in the overnight shooting at 306 Arlington are believed to be Akir Samad Hooper, age 34, and Stephanie Lynn Walker, age 37, both of the residence.
No additional suspect information. Detectives are actively investigating this incident as a homicide and interviewing potential witnesses. Forest City Police Department is urging anyone having any information concerning this incident to call the Rutherford County Central Communications Center at (828) 286-2911.

On May 19, 2017, at approximately 11:17 hours, officers of the Forest City Police Department, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Forest City Fire and Rescue and Rutherford County EMS responded to the residence and located two victims of apparent gunshot wounds. A male victim was found deceased at the residence and a female victim was transported to Rutherford Regional where she succumbed to her injuries. Two juveniles of the home fled the residence and were not harmed.
Unidentified male suspect still at large. No arrests have been made at the time of this release.
Forest City Police Department is not releasing the names of the victims until they have been properly identified and their families have been notified.
